Pittock Mansion

If you are not aware, the one good thing about being a BofA customer is the first weekend of every month you can get into select museums in your town for FREE!! That's right, free! Last month Sara and I went to the Portland Art Museum, this month we went to the Pittock Mansion.

A little history: The Pittock Mansion was home to Portland pioneers Henry and Georgiana Pittock from 1914 to 1919. Henry was an avid cyclist, one of the first to climb to the top of Mt. Hood, always volunteered for the community and paved a path for Portland to become the thriving city its is today. Georgiana dedicated herself to improving the lives of the community’s women and children. She helped found the Ladies Relief Society whose Children’s Home provided care, food, and shelter for needy children and also worked with the Woman’s Union playing a key role in building the Martha Washington Home for single, working women.

I could go on and on about how great they were and how much they mean to Portlanders but I won't bore you, you can look up more if you want. =)

We got lucky on a gorgeous sunny Fall day. Although it was only about 40 degrees, the sun was shining brightly warming the crisp air. We were surrounded by beautiful landscapes and a killer view of Portland!

  2. It's funny because I've lived in Portland all my life and never made it up to see this place but it's on my list to do soon.

    Thanks for the inspiring pictures!
